Beauty, confidence and connection for our cancer patients

We helped our cancer patients look and feel like themselves again thanks to a make-up and skincare session held in collaboration with the charity Look Good Feel Better.

It was an opportunity for those going through cancer treatment to gain advice and tips on managing the physical and cosmetic impacts of cancer, including how to enhance sparse eyebrows or deal with loss of eyelashes.

The workshop, held at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch, was run by a trained makeup artist and skincare professional who volunteered their time and expertise. Look Good Feel Better also provided each participant with a bag full of different skincare and makeup products to keep.

For our patients, this dedicated time is also an opportunity to meet and connect with others who are going through a similar experience as them.

Sammie, who is at the beginning of her cancer treatment, attended the workshop on 1 September.

She said:

I loved the workshop! It was so lovely spending the day meeting new people and learning ways to make us feel ourselves and giving me the confidence needed during this tough time.

If you're a cancer patient currently going through treatment and would like to attend a workshop, speak to your nurse.
