Another MP backs our campaign for a new A&E at Queen’s Hospital

Jas Athwal has become the latest MP to back our campaign for a new A&E at Queen’s Hospital after visiting the department and speaking to our staff about the pressure they are under.
During his visit, on Friday 27 June, the Ilford South MP heard how difficult it can be for both patients and staff with the current facilities.
Staff spoke about the issues with corridor care and the challenges of caring for patients, particularly mental health patients, without the right space and facilities.
Jas said:
I’m certainly impressed with the way the staff worked within the capabilities of what they have, working through the capacity, raising standards and I’m seeing the staff go above and beyond.
I will be supporting the campaign because I know the money will be well spent and there’s so much more that we can do. The staff and most importantly the patients deserve that.
Our Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer added:
Expanding our A&E will be an important step towards ensuring we can provide the best possible care for our patients in a space that is fit for purpose. Ending corridor care would make a significant difference, both for our patients to have an improved experience in our hospital, and to give our staff a better environment to work in.
I’m grateful for the support of Jas and our other MPs for our campaign.
Our campaign has already been publicly supported by local MPs Andrew Rosindell, Julia Lopez, Margaret Mullane and Nesil Caliskan. Andrew Rosindell also recently joined Matthew Trainer to meet Health Minister Karin Smyth MP, making the case for the £35million needed to transform our A&E.
We’re also asking local residents to show their support by contacting their MP - visit our campaign page for more information.
