2025:Our year in numbers

With the end of the year upon us, it’s a good time to reflect on the progress we’ve made over the last 12 months - 2025 has been a huge year which has seen our Maternity services rated good and the launch of our electronic patient record. (EPR)
It was another extremely busy year for our A&Es with 346,555 people attending, 14,000 more than the previous year.
And we’ve continued to tackle waiting lists, carrying out 802,989 outpatient appointments, 94,023 CT scans and 48,775 MRI scans. The opening of our second Community Diagnostic Centre in St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch played a huge role in helping us carry out these scans, reducing waits for patients and meaning less people needed to travel to hospital for their appointment. While our Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital performed 10,228 surgeries, a jump of over 900 operations since last year.
We’ve also welcomed 6,702 babies into the world at Queen’s Hospital, in the same year our Maternity department was rated good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
We offered 1,070 days of work experience to local young people, helping them to take their first step towards an NHS career, and celebrated our long-serving staff who contributed 7,885 years of service combined at our long service awards.
And before the year was out we stepped out of the digital dark ages as we launched our new electronic patient record. This means all relevant information, including medications, test results and allergies, will be held in one secure digital medical record, quickly and easily available to all healthcare colleagues involved in that patient’s care.
None of this could have been achieved without the hard work of our staff and support from our volunteers, so here’s to 2026, another year of working together to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.
