An infographic featuring some numbers that reflect our performance in 2023. 6,660 babies born. 25,652 diagnostic tests at Barking Community Hospital. 7,613 surgeries at the King George Hospital surgical hub. 759,633 outpatient appointments. 45,463 MRI scans. 81,113 CT scans. 5,151 staff members and their families attended our NHS75 events. 302,979 people visited our A&Es.

As we enter the new year, we’re looking back at some of the things we achieved in 2023, as we continue to care for our patients and colleagues.

It was a busy year in our A&Es, with more than 300,000 patients attending for treatment. During 2023 our A&Es were also visited by inspectors from the Care Quality Commission, who upgraded the ratings of both departments.

We’ve also continued our work to reduce our waiting lists, holding more than 750,000 outpatient appointments and carrying out over 7,500 procedures in the elective surgical hub at King George Hospital.

We carried out more than 126,000 CT and MRI scans, and we also performed more than 25,000 diagnostic tests at Barking Community Hospital as we continue to bring our services closer to our communities, something that will increase in 2024 when the St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub opens in Hornchurch.

Looking after our staff continues to be a big theme of our work, and we held a series of thank you events to coincide with the NHS’s 75th anniversary. More than 5,000 members of our staff and their families attended these events set over a weekend in July.

Finally, we welcomed 6,660 babies into the world at Queen’s Hospital, including 16 on Christmas Day.
