Making periods easier for young people

Period drop in session

Period drop in session

On Saturday 23 March, Queen's Hospital hosted a drop-in session all about periods. The event ran for four hours and aimed to help young people feel more at ease when discussing periods and get answers to their questions. There was a turn out of around 30 teenagers.

Leading the event was Anjita Sinha, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Queen's Hospital. The hospital charity provided free period pads for all the participants.

Anjita's goal for the event was to reassure young people that periods are a normal part of life and there's nothing to worry about. She also wanted to guide them on what to ask their doctors if they have any concerns about their periods.

Anjita:

Periods are a normal part of growing up, and it's important that young people are not afraid to talk about them and get help when needed.

The event aimed to create a safe and comfortable space to learn about periods. Looking ahead, Anjita plans to hold more of these events to help young people get a better understanding of their bodies.
