Karen followed in her mother’s footsteps in becoming a nurse but it wasn’t in her original plan – she’d intended to be a maths teacher! Despite that Karen has had a hugely eventful career in nursing, including spending 14 years solely working night shifts. Christella Matoko is a project support officer, who spends her days supporting our trainee nursing associates and helping them with their learning.
The lover of dance and acting got into project management completely by accident after suffering an injury when preparing for a show meant she had to have a rethink, and plan a show for someone else. She loved it so much she got a qualification in project management and hasn’t looked back since.
English is her third language as Christella was born in the Republic of the Congo, then lived in Belgium for a year, moving to the UK when she was three.
