We’ve got talent - and Teletubbies!

We've got talent

We've got talentOur staff spend their days caring for their patients – but a fundraising event showed that many of them also have hidden talents.

Our matrons organised a BHRUT’s Got Talent event to raise funds for our hospitals’ charity.

Among the performers at the event, held at the RUSSC Club in Romford, were belly dancers, singers and a group who performed a skit as children’s TV favourite the Teletubbies!

But it was a talented singer who performed show tunes who was crowned the winner.

Jhermeroy Esperanzate impressed the judges singing Stars from Les Misérables and Corner of the Sky from Broadway show Pippin.

The staff nurse, who looks after patients on our intensive care unit, said: “I always enjoy performing but this was my first time taking part in a competition like this – I don’t think most of my colleagues have heard me sing or seen me perform.

“Winning was a great experience. I’ve always loved to sing, but I usually perform in a rock alternative band.”

Staff from both our hospitals took part in the competition, with many more raising funds by buying tickets to watch their colleagues in action.

Overall over £1,300 was raised for the King George and Queen’s Hospitals’ Charity, which will be spent on improving our hospitals for patients.

An X-factor-style judging panel for the competition was made up of our Chief Executive Matthew Hopkins, charity accountant Linda George and consultant Tomas Jovaisa.
