Queen’s Healthy Hike launched to get staff and visitors moving

Staff from Queen's Hospital healthily hiking

Health hiking Queen’s Hospital continues to become a healthier place to be – just weeks after the introduction of a fruit stall, a Healthy Hike has started.

The Healthy Hike consists of short guided walks around the hospital grounds and is for visitors and staff to encourage them to move more, by learning about the benefits of a simple stroll.

Signs have been erected at our hospital with two starting points and a choice of a longer or shorter hike.

The hike can easily fit into a lunch break for staff, and gives visitors to the hospital a way to have a short break from a loved one’s bedside, or even to keep busy while waiting.

And it’s not just for people to walk; the route is also open to cyclists.

The launch of the Healthy Hike coincided with Sport Relief and a group of our staff recognised the fundraising event by completing a Sport Relief Mile along the hike route, while raising money for the charity.
