If you or someone close to you should become unwell over the Easter Bank Holiday, there are lots of options for you to get the care you need, saving you a long wait, so you can get back to enjoying your extra time off.

There are lots of additional appointments available at local GP hubs over the entire bank holiday weekend, including Good Friday and Easter Sunday. These can be booked on the same day by calling 020 3770 1888, or NHS 111. And remember for more minor ailments, local pharmacists can help, saving a trip to see the doctor. Lot of pharmacies across our three boroughs will be open over the Easter break.

Our emergency departments are there to provide emergency care. Unless it’s a real emergency, you can save yourself time by being seen elsewhere, and allow us to focus on those who really need us.

Gabriel Trancho (pictured), one of our advanced clinical practitioners in our Emergency Department, said: “Over bank holidays we often see more patients who have had too much food or alcohol, and we even see more injuries from car accidents where people are driving after having a drink.

“We do often see an increase of children with injuries during school holidays, so try and remind parents to monitor their children and to make sure they are eating and drinking well.

“People can go and see their GP, go to walk-in centres and pharmacists, which will be a lot quicker for them to be seen than if they come to the ED with something minor. If people get treatment, in the right place, it allows us to focus on emergencies and do this more effectively.”

All the information you need, including which local pharmacies are open this Easter, is on our get the right care for you page.
