A message from our Chair

Latest news icon

agggddI recently passed six months in post as Chair, so I wanted to take the opportunity to say a short thank you and reflect on what has been an eventful period.

We are clearly facing challenges at present and with our staff having worked so hard to exit quality special measures it was disappointing to have entered financial special measures in February, but as Matthew Hopkins, Chief Executive at BHRUT, and I noted at the time, we understood the rationale.

We are now focused on holding the ground we have gained in quality and patient experience, while finding the ways for everyone to maximise their contribution to improving our financial position and our sustainability. We are working very hard across the Trust to improve how we do things, increase our efficiency and drive our productivity.

I have been extremely impressed by The PRIDE Way - our Trust's improvement methodology - as a fantastic opportunity to make lasting, significant changes to how we do things, and as we continue to persevere and embed it, I know that we can continue on our journey to delivering our vision of outstanding, holistic, integrated care, with the best possible outcomes for our patients.

I'd like to thank our external partners and stakeholders for your time, views, support, feedback and expertise, which you have shared with me - I continue to welcome and encourage this.

I'd also like to say a huge thank you to all our staff and volunteers who have been working so hard over the past few months. I've been so impressed by their friendliness and commitment.

- Joe Fielder, Chair
