Support our £1 million Robotic Surgery Appeal
Robotic surgery is not new, in fact over 70 hospitals across the country now use da Vinci robotics to perform complex operations on many forms of cancer including prostrate, bowel, gynaecological and thyroid.
With a price tag of over £1.25m, buying a robotic system for our hospitals has been out of reach. Where cancer surgery is needed our patients do still have the choice of conventional or robotic surgery but sadly they have not been able to have robotic surgery in their own local hospital. Patients need to be referred to hospitals further away, and the extra travel time and expense for friends and family to stay close becomes very difficult.
We believe that local people from Barking, Havering and Redbridge deserve to have the choice of receiving innovative robotic surgery at Queen’s Hospital in the heart of their own community
Our charity is proud and excited to announce that we are buying our hospital a da Vinci Xi robotic system. We have made a down payment of £500,000 to secure surgical robotics for Queen’s Hospital and we will be taking delivery of the latest da Vinci equipment at the end of December 2019. This will be a gift from our charity that will revolutionise surgical cancer procedures for King George and Queen’s Hospitals and help save hundreds of lives in the future. Owning our own robotics system will be an enormous boost for our clinical teams and will benefit both patients and staff across both hospital sites.
We need your help
As a charity we have taken the first steps to make it happen, but we still need to raise the other £1 million to complete the payment on the system over the next two years. We hope that our community will get behind us and support this very special charity appeal.
Robotic surgery is the future and the future is now – please support our £1 million Robotic Surgery Appeal.

Leap of faith for robotic surgery
Natasha Stevenson from Romford wanted to do something memorable for her 16th birthday so decided to do a bungee jump from a crane at the O2. Not only that, but she told all her family and friends not to buy her a birthday present, but to donate to our robotic appeal instead. Natasha raised a magnificent £1,818.36.
There are many different ways that you can help us raise funds for the Robotic Surgery Appeal. Natasha took a leap of faith but it doesn’t need to be that scary, you can make an individual donation, a corporate donation, or ask your church, school or club to get involved.
