Our Aim:
We believe that spiritual well-being and pastoral care are essential elements in promoting health and healing.
Here at BHRUT, the chaplaincy team support patients, relatives and staff across the Trust and is available for everyone, whether religious or not. Our aim is to provide spiritual and pastoral care for patients, visitors and staff which is sensitive and appropriate to their spiritual, religious, emotional and cultural needs. This is so people can begin to find strength, support and meaning within their experience of life, death, illness or injury - whatever their beliefs may be.
Our Objectives are:
To provide high quality religious, spiritual and pastoral care at the point of need.
To respect and be sensitive to the individual’s religious, cultural and ethnic background.
To respect and maintain the individual’s privacy and dignity at all times.
To work flexibly as part of the wider healthcare team.
To respond to a referral within 48 hours and an emergency call within 1 hour.
To ensure that all patient information is kept confidential in accordance with the Trust’s policies and procedures.
To support all members of staff, especially in times of crisis or emotional concern.
To provide training and education to staff, especially in areas of spiritual and religious care, care of the dying and breaking bad news.
To plan for future provision and promote quality spiritual and pastoral care throughout the Trust.
