The Education Centre is a dedicated facility within the hospital, which promotes interdisciplinary learning, whilst maintaining the integrity of individual professional requirements. It plays a central role in enabling the Trust to maximise the use of its educational resources.

Staff are able to access a wide range of learning materials to support their learning and development. This ensures that all staff have the necessary knowledge, skills and expertise to provide services to patients and carers and can fulfil their potential. Opportunities are made available to assist staff in achieving this goal.

The facilities include:
• Reception area with central booking system
• Lecture theatres with multimedia audio/video conferencing links
• Satellite seminar rooms for meetings and teaching.
• Clinical Skills laboratory
• Resuscitation & manual handling training room
• Library & computer assisted learning rooms
• In house catering facilities
• Medical student lockers

Lecture theatre
Client groups
The centre provides facilities foremost for hospital staff but can also provide services for a range of other external stakeholders and providers.

Audio-visual support
We can assist with the set up and use of laptop and data projection facilities should this be needed. Clear instructions for use of equipment will be provided.
Multi-disciplinary clinical skills laboratory
The skills lab is for the use of multidisciplinary internal and external staff.
Resuscitation & manual handling training room
This is a dedicated facility but can be made available for other purposes when necessary.

King George simulation centre
We have high-fidelity, full immersion simulation facilities capable of delivering human factors, patient safety and acute and critical care skills training.  This includes bays for up to 6 beds/trolleys/cots, a viewing room, separate consultation rooms, and a seminar room for debriefing, as well as the required storage and IT space.  The area has been re-wired and equipped with new SMOTs cameras, monitors, and manikins, including SimMan 3G, Megacode Kid, SimBaby and SimNewbie.

Library & computer assisted learning rooms
These provide access and support to a wide range of educational resources in the form of e-learning programmes, books and periodicals.

In house catering facilities for users of the Centres
Queen's - Refreshments are not allowed in any area other than the bistro and shall be provided through Sodexo. Pharmaceutical representatives and all other centre users must use this service.
King George - Refreshments are not allowed in some areas and there is a coffee lounge located within the centre. Refreshments can be either provided through Sodexo, or pharmaceutical representatives can bring their own or use a Trust approved caterer.

A £30.00 stand hire is applied to all pharmaceutical representatives.
Room hire/staff costs may apply.
