Cancer Services at BHR

As a result of the services provided by BHR, the vast majority of people with cancer in our area are able to receive their full range of treatments locally.

Joint cancer centre

BHR provides local people with the facilities of a joint cancer centre with St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and is home to one of the country’s largest cancer diagnostic and treatment centres.

Only eight other Trusts treat a larger volume of people with cancer. BHR receives between 900 and 1000 referrals a month for people with suspected cancer and provides surgical and medical treatment for around 160 people each month.

Cancer services

Cancer services at BHR consist of the haematology / oncology day centre, made up of the chemotherapy day unit, radiotherapy, medical physics, haematology and oncology clinics, 30 inpatient beds, 6 assessment beds and the cancer information centre, all of which are situated in Queen’s Hospital, Romford and The Cedar Centre chemotherapy day unit, which is housed at King George Hospital, Goodmayes.
